If you’re looking for an adventure and only have a weekend to do it in, consider one of the five following awesome road trip destinations:

1. Las Vegas, Nevada

Obviously, any college student would have a blast in Las Vegas—it is nicknamed Sin City, after all. The good news is that Vegas can be as cheap or costly as you make it, so do yourself a favor and assess your finances so that you can come up with a budget before you make the trip. Vegas isn’t just about gambling: It has a killer club scene and plenty of pools for you to relax by while soaking up the rays.

2. New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans is a quintessential party town, and it’s the ultimate road trip destination—just not during the Jazz Festival and Mardi Gras. You may think those would be the best times to visit, but trust us—they’re not. You’ll be able to enjoy much more of the city with a less obnoxious crowd other times of year. Be sure to hit up Bourbon Street, the French Quarter, and “Cities of the Dead” cemeteries—and don’t miss out on seeing some great live zydeco bands perform!

3. Los Angeles, California

Whether you’ve never been to L.A. or frequent the city often, it’s always a great college road trip destination. There are plenty of touristy things to do, and tons of party spots to check out. Be sure to spend some time in Hollywood, and don’t forget your camera—there will be plenty of insane things to snap pictures of.

4. Miami, Florida

Not only does Miami have a great beach and club scene, it’s also the perfect destination during the winter, particularly if you go to a college in the frosty north. Ladies, don’t forget your bikinis. Guys, don’t forget your darkest shades—there will be plenty of gorgeous people to look at while you’re chilling on the beach.

5. New York City, New York

New York City is the American city, so of course it makes the list for best college road trips. There are dozens of hot bars and clubs to choose from, and just as many restaurants to gorge yourself in. Avoid the chaotic crowds of Times Square and instead check out the Empire State Building, SoHo, and Central Park. Just don’t go to the city during the winter—it’s just too blustery to really enjoy all that NYC has to offer.
