Over time more English began arriving, and seeking new opportunities.

The district’s summary of The Rocks was the beginning of the city. Located between the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, it is dominated by small streets, many of them steep, the pubs, the inevitable market and some historic buildings such as Cadman’s Cottage, the oldest house in the city or other inhabited dwellings by former workers.

As in many other parts of the world, today this historic area has become trendy bohemian spirit with an abundance of gourmet restaurants and art galleries.
