Los Rios tourism destinationIn order to strengthen the creation of regional tourism products of special interests, associated natural and cultural attractions, the Regional Council unanimously approved the Regional Tourism Policy in Los Rios, establishing through this instrument, a common strategic framework that will guide to better planning and governance in these areas.

According to the findings of the Regional Governor, Juan Varas, on that occasion, “this policy is a commitment that seeks to consolidate regional and project to the region as a tourism destination development, with a seal Valdivian Forest, and also develops sustainable and compatible manner with other productive activities. “

Meanwhile, Paulina Steffen, Regional Director of Tourism, highlighted the relevance for the country “to have this strategic map that will allow us to develop tourism in a more coordinated and focused.” He added that “along with strengthening the existing destinations, a key task will be to enhance the attractiveness of each community, adding value to the industry and improving its competitiveness.”

With this initiative, the region seeks to be recognized for its local identity, primarily promoting sustainable tourism, nature and where the base is the conservation and wise use of natural resources and biodiversity, such as rivers, lakes and forests.

The policy includes a system during its term management, monitoring and evaluation to fulfill the objectives. This process, conducted by the Regional Government and Sernatur Rivers, with the participation of public and private, where you will have a significant role the Regional Tourism Council.

Remarkably, the Regional Policy is in line with the National Tourism Policy and is strengthened by having specific initiatives to work, which already have funding approved and arranged by the Regional Government, which allows forward from now on implementation.
